& that’s how it all began

Background

The Campaign Page is one of the most important parts of the CauseMatch fundraising platform, where donors meet a campaign’s story and decide to give.

Over time, the page became outdated, non-responsive, and visually cluttered.

Campaign managers and clients repeatedly reported frustration: it wasn’t modular, was difficult to update, and required constant support for every small change.

Internally, the team recognized that the design no longer reflected the platform’s growth or users’ current needs.

User Research

To validate the pain points, I conducted a survey among campaign managers and reviewed client feedback on Trustpilot.

The insights were consistent: while users loved the service and support, they found the design old-fashioned, rigid, and not user-friendly.

I also analyzed behavioral data and heatmaps,

discovering that over 70% of donations came from mobile devices,

yet the flow was still desktop-first.

The most engaged areas were the Donate button and Search bar,

which later guided the hierarchy of the redesign.

UX & Structure

I redefined the page hierarchy to balance emotional storytelling with functional clarity.
The new layout followed a mobile-first, modular approach built around familiar elements:
a hero section with the campaign image, goal, timer, and donate button, text sections and Giving Levels (preset donation cards), and a Recent Donor Panel showing live donor activity.
These components create a clear and engaging donor journey from awareness to action.

Customization

The core idea was flexibility. no two campaign pages should look the same.

From the admin panel, managers can now add, remove, or reorder sections, edit text blocks, change colors and layouts, or toggle components on and off.

This freedom gives clients full control while keeping a consistent brand look and easy technical maintenance.

The modular system also simplified development, cutting build time and improving long-term scalability.

The UI

The UI

The new design introduced a clean, modern visual language with clear typography, stronger contrast, and more breathing space.

Content was organized in modular cards, Bento Grid style allowing campaign managers to rearrange sections independently and adjust the design for different campaign types.

A key goal in this phase was to ensure development efficiency and maintainability.

Unlike the previous design, which included complex visual patterns and elements that were difficult to code, this version was built with a modular design system that supported most of the platform’s existing logic and combinations.

Usability testing

Usability testing

We ran an internal usability tests with campaign managers and selected client partners.

Feedback confirmed that the new design was significantly clearer and easier to manage.

Participants highlighted the improved readability and simplicity of the mobile layout, with no major usability blockers.

THE RESULTS:

THE RESULTS:

Post-launch feedback was overwhelmingly positive:

#1

Reduced support and setup time

Campaign managers reported a dramatic drop in support requests for edits, and clients described the new design as “beautiful, intuitive, and easy to manage.”

#2

Higher engagement and conversions

Engagement time increased, and the streamlined development process proved highly cost-effective for future iterations.

#3

Improved efficiency and scalability

Previously, every change required developer involvement. The new modular structure made updates simple, faster to implement, and easier to maintain.

& my two cents on this project are:

It’s just one actually but worth much more:)

Sometimes, as a product designer, you feel like you’re “bothering” the team with endless questions and requests.
In this project, despite my initial hesitation, the team was genuinely happy to be part of the process.

They were eager to share their knowledge and influence the outcome, and I was glad to give them that space.
Their insights, drawn from daily client interactions, became a crucial part of the design’s success.

I believe this collaboration planted the first seed of a broader organizational change, one where cross-functional involvement became not just welcome, but essential to how we build products at CauseMatch.
